Ouka Leele is a trained photographer who is interested in painting as well, she mastered this technique, and at the age of 18 various of her photographs were included in the book "Principio". In 1978 the magazine "Star" asked her to create a colourful photograph for its front cover this was perfect,as she specialises in black and white photography. She decided to use this technique from the beginning of the century which consisted of her colouring photographs using watercolours. Her greatest triumphs came during the Movida Maorileria where her work reflected the electric sprit of this countercultural movement.

This is one of Leele pieces of work called Peluqueria Limones. What i like about this piece of work is how beautifully unique it is with the lemons places delicately around her face, in such a unusual way. Also the colours she has chosen to use are yellows, oranges and a hint of red. By using these colours makes her work sound very basic but looks interesting.

Her style of work links well with my painted dark room image called a Splash of Colour. This is becuase i have used a select amount of colours, which have been painted in certain areas of the image to make it stand out more from the original. Just like Leele i feel by adding a splash of colour to a black and white image makes it look unique and seperate from the original.
