Canaletto is an Italian painter of landscapes of Venice. This artist work links well with my Venice shoot because they are both pieces of work on the landscapes of Venice but the only difference is that my work is in digital format and his has been done in a paint format.

The Grand Canal with S.Simeone Piccolo, this is one of his piece of work that looks similar to one of my images. When I position these two photos together you can noticed how much has changed since the 18th Century to the 21st Century.

When I look at Canaletto painting the building look old and worn out, to the left of the picture. But the buildings to the right of the canal look grander. This could be because in these times city's where segregated on class in society. However, in the 21st Century photo all the building look bright and modern with no sign of class segregation.

Over the years the number of tourist visiting Venice has risen between these two periods which has resulted with my business like cafes and stalls along the front of the Grand Canal but in Canaletto's painting they doesn't seem like there is much tourism around at this time but instead they are a few people working for a living.
